Workshop
I found everything that was said in work shop last class to be very informational. Things that I had not even thought about were brought to my attention and I feel that is very important when thinking about revisions. It is very hard, however, to read your work in front of a group of people not knowing how they will feel about it or what they will say. But the reaction that I got was very positive and I am grateful for that. I look forward to more work shops!

I totally agree. It is really useful to think about the things that really need revision in a poem that we write in order to make it stronger, however hard it might be to hear agree with them. The only information from the workshop I would disagree with is the fact that rhyming seems to be strongly discouraged. I think that rhyme makes for a stronger poem an it makes a great rhythm.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny to see how, despite all of your best efforts, people interpret the poem differently or don't understnad what you're trying to say. Workshop is a great tool for overcoming this, but at the same time it's depressing to think that there will always be someone, somewhere, taking issue with your work.
