The Muse of Delirium

Time and time again, I find myself most creative when I am incredibly tired, sometimes to the point of delirium. It's interesting, when I get this tired I feel almost as if I'm high. Perhaps the muse presents itself more readily because I am too tired/impaired to involuntarily censor it. Many of the best music/lyrics/poetry I've ever written came to me after a ridiculously long video game binge, or coming home from work (I used to work nights, so I was always extremely tired). Anyone have similar experiences?

  1. I find myself to have the same problem, infact, I have posted a blog similar to this one expressing my frustrations with my muse coming at the most inconvient times. Sleeping can sometimes be difficult and therefore when my muse comes to me at night, it creates for a tumoltuous night. Although when my muse comes at more convient times, I can create poems quickly and often proves to be my best work.

  2. Ah but you misunderstand, I don't think of it as being plagued by my muse inconveniently, I'm just pointing out the curious correlation between its presence and my being somewhat delirious. I welcome it all the same, sleep be damned :p

  3. This is my favorite way to be. Delirious. I've learned that it is my most creative, open and non-self-judgmental state. Although, it is hard to get from just annoyingly exhausted to sweet delirium. When it does come, it is more than welcome.
