Revising

I'm starting to find it easier to revise my own work and others. At first when I entered this class I didn't know how someone who didn't really know much about poetry could criticize and help other people out with their poetry. In my opinion everyone has their own way of writing, so why criticize people because they don't have the same type of style as you do? I have come to realize it's not about making it how you like it, it's giving opinions on what you think they can possibly do to make their style even better. Also along with revising its good to hear how other people read your work. I have a tendency to sing when I read my work, mostly because it is rhyming. When other people read my work for me, I see what they stumble on and what they might be confused about. This helps me to correct my punctuation and "awkwardness". The way you think isn't how you always write it, so I find it helpful when my work is proof read.

  1. At the end of the workshop I really realized how much I learned during this class. In the beginning of the year I didn't know anything about writing poems, but at the end i learned that I actually now know different things that can help make a poem even better. In addition I do agree that everyone has they own style, but just by adding comments on how they can improve can really make a difference in their poem.
