Revision
The revision process is going much better than I thought it would. All the comments came into very good usage. Starting the process was hard, primarily because when you think your poetry is great the way it is and you see nothing wrong with it. It took me some time before I actually understood the significance of workshop and the comments that followed. Revising my work was is much easier now opening up my mind to change. This change has impacted greatly and it shows through my new work. In many ways I feel a lot more personal and inside of my writing. This impacted the language and structure a great deal. All in all I'm very happy with the workshop process and I appreciate it very much. At the beginning I felt the complete opposite. Its feels really good to be proven differently about this process.

I do agree with you. The comments did come into great use. It's hard to revise your own poetry because you think that there is nothing wrong with it simply because you wrote it. In class when we revised each others poems, you get a good feel on how people react to it, and how it can be changed for the better.
ReplyDeleteI agree too, I thought that workshop was going to take my poems, eat them up and spit them out. Luckily, nobody was that harsh and I hate revising things. But, since I've started the revision process I've come to decide that it's a lot better for my work, even if I previously hated it.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. Workshop was amazing. Im surprised I was so willing to share my writing because I havent in so long. All the revisions suggested I recieved were amazing. I definately took to all of them and found them very helpful.
